A limited diagnostic live-motion 4D ultrasound allows you to see your baby, hear their heart beating, and even determine their gender. It’s a great way to connect with your baby, see them moving, or get some photos and videos of them to take home with you. Research shows that realistic surface images can help form an early bond between parents and their babies.

The ultrasound used in this exam is not performed to better assess the baby for abnormalities or to determine how many weeks pregnant you are. A routine diagnostic examination with your OBGYN (to screen for genetic disorders and assess the gestational age of the fetus) is recommended before visiting us.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Our limited diagnostic scan can’t replace a complete diagnostic ultrasound.

Women seeking a limited diagnostic prenatal ultrasound with Love At First Scan must already be receiving prenatal care with a healthcare provider to confirm their due date, screen for fetal anomalies, and diagnose any other pregnancy-related issues.

We include a limited diagnostic scan only to confirm the gender, the number of babies, the baby’s presentation, the placental location and to measure the heart rate.

Extensive studies over the past 35 years have found that ultrasounds have not been shown to cause any maternal or fetal harm. Diagnostic scanning of all pregnancies is now routine. 3D/4D/HD scans use EXACTLY the same type, and intensity, of ultrasonic waves as in conventional 2D scans.

The combination of increased data gathering (listening) by the transducer (the device used), and the software interpretation of that gathered data afterward, creates these amazing 3D 4D/HD images without a higher intensity, frequency, or power output than a regular 2D scan that doctors use.

Our guidelines dictate the systems to be used in the Obstetric Application Mode. This mode is capped by the manufacturer below the FDA limits (94 milliwatts/cm2) for exposure. In fact, the system takes simultaneous 2D scans in sagittal, coronal, and transverse planes, and the software renders the 3D/4D/HD images. It’s that simple!

We provide forms to mothers and physicians/midwives that clearly state the services offered at Love At first Scan. We highly recommend that parents discuss any safety concerns with their doctor.

We use the state-of-the-art GE Voluson ultrasound system to complete all ultrasound examinations. You may recognize the GE Voluson from GE television commercials and many printed articles from around the world. This machine is the best 2D, 3D, 4D & Real Live HD ultrasound machine available.

Yes, appointments are necessary for all of our services. We encourage you to schedule well in advance.

Plan to be with us for 30 to 45 minutes in total. The ultrasound itself generally takes 15 to 20 minutes. We require some time for registration/eligibility, and to get everyone comfortable and situated for your ultrasound experience.

A 3D ultrasound produces still images of your baby, just like a regular 2D scan, but with much more detail and facial features visible.
4D ultrasounds are of a similar quality to 3D scans, but they allow you to see your baby moving around in the womb.
HD ultrasounds (also called 5D) are the highest quality scans available, with the richest color and most detail. They show your baby moving around, live, in a very clear HD video.

We begin gender determination in 2D as early as 13 weeks, but to get the benefit of an HD scan, we recommend waiting a little longer than that. If you only plan on having one 3D session during the course of your pregnancy, then the best timeframe is usually between 30 and 34 weeks. We can get detailed images of the baby at any stage of pregnancy, of course, but we always get the best results around this time.

Many moms-to-be opt for more than one HD scan during their pregnancy, so they can see the baby’s growth from the second to the third trimester. For twins, we recommend having your scans before 30 weeks for the best chance of seeing them both.

The best way to prepare for your HD experience, at any stage of pregnancy, is to stay hydrated. We recommend that you drink LOTS OF WATER for several days before your appointment with us. Fluid can increase visibility in some cases because it increases the amniotic fluid around your baby. The more amniotic fluid, the better the images.

In most cases, you will. Sometimes, if the baby’s position is face down towards your spine, it may be difficult to see their face. In this case, we can reschedule a complimentary repeat scan for another time. No two scans are the same, so please be aware that your scan images may not be like those you saw elsewhere, or even in our clinic.

The results depend on the baby’s gestational age, their position, the amount of amniotic fluid, the placental location, and the mother’s body habitus. With this in mind, we promise to make every effort to get the best images possible of your baby.

Yes. In fact, we encourage you to invite family (including siblings) and friends to attend. This is a wonderful and educational experience that will linger in your memories for a lifetime.

For those family members and friends who can’t accompany you to your ultrasound, we now offer our exciting new Sonostream LIVE technology. This technology allows them to watch your ultrasound session live, over the internet, from the comfort of their home or office. Click here to learn more about Sonostream LIVE!

Yes, in almost all cases, we can provide confirmation of your baby’s gender — but only if requested. If we are unable to confirm gender ID for the first time, we will schedule a complimentary repeat scan for a later date.

Insurance does not cover any of our scans because they are limited diagnostic procedures and are not intended to be a replacement for your physician-ordered ultrasound. You will need to pay this as an out-of-pocket expense. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard and debit cards.

We have various packages to fit anyone’s budget. Please refer to the pricing section for more information on the different packages we offer. We highly recommend that you call us for price comparison as, on an ongoing basis, we have seasonal discount specials.
